Default imported a P1800 from Sweden

As i heard elsewhere on the forum the Swedish love their old volvos!

. I took most of the summer to track down the P1800 i finally brought. There were a lot to chose from, some original and many restored all not bad value. I found the level of workmanship in Sweden to be of a very high order so i looked for a fully restored car, figuring that the local expertise and availability of parts combined with the aforementioned workmanship would be to a advantageous to a classic volvo newbie.

I wanted a 1969 model with the B20 B engine and the last of the blue driving instruments.

Its now here in the UK courtesy of EM Rogers transport who shipped it from Malmo to South London for me. Its awaiting the UK plates and then its ready to go.

I recently sold a mint 1970 240z to make room for the new P1800. The cars couldn't be more different. the Datsun is quite raw and asks to be driven hard and is way more sophisticated technically with independant suspension all round and a SOHC straight 6. The Volvo has a mature nature and a feeling of traditional machinery that been refined and evolved.

Congrats on your acquisition and welcome to this Forum!

Indeed, the differences to the Z car are huge...

The car looks like a gem!...a B20 is indicated, but car does not seem to be injected, so this is a somewhat unusual model...enjoy!...and if we can help with issues that come up...post you queries and enjoy a literal world of experience at your fingertips!...also check archives using search function...there is much good info as many issues have been handled in the past.

I invite you also to peruse the SW-EM.com site!

Cheers from Connecticut!

I will take some interior photos. The inside is as good as the outside I am pleased to report

I would like to get a recommendation on how to fit seat belts

I'm surprised a car of that vintage doesn't have belts...they were certainly factory standard equipment in 69 (even years before that!)...I might suggest that they were removed...? A little detective work under the carpet and C-pillar to have a look at the stock securing points would be able to verify this...to (re)add them, you first need to decide if you want original (non-inertia) or later, easier-adjusting inertia style...

Cheers
