My drivers' side wing looked fine but taking the indicator unit out to take a look revealed quite a bit of rust forming there too.

I've then used Bilt Hamber's rust converter and then cavity wax.

The top tip here is that its worth taking the indicator units out to take a look, if you've never done so before. If you've got rust then dealing with it now is likely to keep a problem at bay.
I have this rust problem but I have to say I don't recall there being much if any decent access behind the indicator. Isn't there a black plastic moulded structure there?

You need to jack the drivers side up in the air to get underneath, as there are a couple of small self tappers in awkward places, often rotten. Don't forget the difficult one in the engine bay. The one that you can't see or get to very well!

All in all, not that easy actually, but is possible without taking the front bumper off.

No, no plastic moulding behind mine on either side. Enough room to get a hand in. Easy to take the indicator unit out and have a look.

thanks Dean, yes it was these self tappers I was thinking about. I assume if you can't get these off then it will make wing removal difficult.

I see you have an S70. Maybe they are different from the 850 - mine is like this:

Yes, the S70 is completely different. Looks like your headlamp unit has the black plastic bit that prevents access. Don't have that on the S70.

Correct. If you jack the car up there is one up the side of the wing that has little access. Then there is the bracket that fixes to the wing. That bolt is only accessible from under the bonnet in a place that is just about inaccessible. If you get these off you can pull the front panel forward and the wing will come out in a fashion. But easy it often isn’t.
