When both my headlights adjusters snapped off with the lightest of turns I removed the projectors and introduced tiny washers to the fixing points to 'lift' the beam by a fixed known amount (like engineering shims) worked a treat!

For those who are removing the headlight and adjusting hex socket directly with the 8mm Alley key:

Make sure you are checking the headlamp height AFTER re-inserting the metal peg... the beam height drops significantly when you put the peg in... it's a bit of a faff, but worth it.

Especially if you're doing a retrofitlabs projector install... it will drive you crazy trying to get these cuts offs lined up.

Hi
Just done mine and one of the adjusters was sheared off including the back up hex drive. Found these advertised.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-S40...IAAOSwYbhZ2upz

Copied the idea. Made a disc out of some Tufnell sheet pressed a hex hole through the centre.
I then screwed it with 2 self tappers to the disc on the adjuster .
Works a treat.

If you do adjust the headlight it is worth spraying some silicon lubricant on the adjusters, there is an o ring inside between the headlight moulding and the adjuster that gets stuck and causes the adjusters to snap.

Sorted mine out tonight, the driver's side headlight was pointing straight down at the floor.. Was pointed out after the MoT told it was technically a fail but basically let off. Sorted it out using the "backup" hex drive, now matches the left side
