Mechanic wanted to fix my XC90. It has 3 errors on the computer, airbag light, 4 wheel drive and abs issue. Free accomodation on luxury 5 star holiday park, plus fuel paid and cash! Please contact me I need it gone! Car is in Wales.

has any of you been to RT mechanics recently? are they still good? I saw some bad reviews here and there... not sure if it was just one user/car or more

Anyone in North Wales tried AVW in Caernarfon?

I'm trying to decide between the Volvo main dealer in LlanfairPG, Deeside Motors in Cheshire (bit of a trek for me that but I'll go if they are worth it), or the AVW guys to get a service done.

AVW have quoted £221.27 for oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, £19.53 for cabin filter and £36 for brake fluid.

Main dealer quoted £300 for oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter
Deeside Motors quoted £300 for oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter & cabin filter as part of a major service or £190 for oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter.

Also had ABS/Anti skid light come on and disappear again so would like that checked out.

Can't offer any advice on garage but ABS/anti skid came on a few times for me over 20 miles recently then it dropped to limp mode with the brakes coming on gently and randomly (ABS vibrations) without me touching the brake pedal. Not a very nice situation with a trailer attached and in busy traffic as I could only do about 3 MPH. Limp started with no warning lights although all warning lights eventually came on and flashed a few times then it settled on the ABS one. A couple of hours waiting for the AA they arrived just as it dawned on me that there would be a fuse to disable the system. Sure enough whipping out two fuses got me going again albeit on reduced braking efficiency. I am now waiting for a local retired Volvo mechanic to plug me in and identity exactly what has failed before I start hunting for parts. Don't wait too long before checking the braking system.

post edit - I got Castrol Edge oil + oil filter / air filter / fuel filter for around £100 recently doesn't take long to change yourself but I guess the £221 price is reasonable for that if it includes labour.

I know it's not in your area but try Volvotech in the east end of Glasgow, went there twice and both times really good for a very good price.

Voltech, Glasgow's independent Volvo specialist don't appear to be in the list and probably should be?

They know their stuff and are down-to-earth / friendly. I've had them work on my car a couple of times now and been very pleased / would thoroughly recommend them!
