I use Simoniz shampoo with added carnauba wax. About £5 for 5litres from Costco. I have used all manner of expensive shampoos in the past, but like this the best .

I use Autobrite Banana Gloss personally but it’s all in the prep. I found Simonize wax shampoo pretty good for a budget wax shampoo. I personally do a prewash on my motor before I shampoo it, I get good results. It all depends on what you’re prepared to spend on car cleaning products.

Mine is a 'traditional' sort of method recommended by a valet guy for 'routine' cleaning... that works for me.

Wash the car thoroughly with warm water (three drops only of washing up liquid per bucket). No need to rinse! And dry with a microfibre cloth.

When fully dry, a once over with Meguiars QD

About an hour's work.

And, though not part of the original 'thought' of the thread: my 'superclean' session is a good wash with plenty of fresh water at the ratio of three drops of washing up liquid and dry - same as above.

Then clay bar the car. The first time I decided to do a clay treatment, I expected it to be hard work. OK, it took time; but it wasn't 'hard' to do. And I was very pleasantly surprised with the result.

Coz my car is blue, polish with Poorboy's "Black Hole" Glaze (not suitable for all colours of car though - but OK on black, blue and red).

Then Poorboy's "Matty's Paste Wax"

A once over with QD (again!... you might get the feeling that I like the stuff!). That whole job being about half a morning's work coz I've kept on top of things.

And you might get the idea that I'm not a fan of wash/wax products. I find they make the car feel 'sticky'.

Autoglim Shampoo and conditioner, used it for years and it seems to slow rust down. Never put washing up liquid in any dilution near good paintwork, a) It removes any wax you have managed to get to stick B) the salts and emulsifiers it contains cause rust.
