door control panel
Evening, Morning here.
I have a 2010 XC70 that has decided to render it's driver side door controls useless, the door lock button is still in operation though. I removed the door and undid the door loom and slid back the rubber cover exposing the wires two of which were broken and another two had splits exposing the wire. I've made a sound job of repairing the broken ones and taped the split two, but still the control panel does not work! Any ideas please? |

Do you mean the window controls switches?
If so on previous none volvo cars its a case of holding the window switches up for about 20 seconds in the up position and that reprogrammed it. If not may need Vida to reprogramme it. Someone else maybe able to offer advice. Have you checked power is getting down the wire?

Hi Peter, yes the window and mirrors controls.
I've just tried holding them up with engine on and engine off for 20+sec, not doing anything. Power to wire is next step, waiting for mechanic friend to come over. Is Vida the plug in box of tricks? Thanks M |

Thinking about it...
Interesting that some functions work and some don't! If one is extremely careful, it is possible to dismantle the switch. A lot of it is 'clip together'. It is not unknown for some of the contacts to get a bit carbonised and 'gummy'. With care, they can be cleaned and reassembled. Once upon a time, when I had my V70, it had the 'soft touch' buttons - which I hated coz one couldn't clean them without removing the surface. But I found a 2nd-hand switch assembly that had 'proper' buttons on it and made one decent panel (without having 'soft touch' things) from the two 'iffy' ones. Edit: Found this on Youtube. OK, it's for the Saab; but it's pretty much the same sort of thing for a Volvo... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2ur-4UuDlE
