Default Wheel Nuts -old and new!

Hi Guys,
My V40 has just been in a main dealership for a new front wheel bearing which they did well but the car came back with one different wheel nut on it, a newer type which looks like a dome nut. On querying it, they said one needed changing (no reason given!) and you can't get the old large head hex type any more.
Anyone any clues where/how I can get hold of a second hand one please? (Or am I being too fussy!!)
Cheers sarumboy

Provided it's the right thread and taper (60 degree for alloys usually) then it shouldn't make any difference, other than cosmetically of course, I may have some of the original flat ended hex ones somewhere, i replaced my old cars ones for ford ones with the big rotating collar on so I won't need them, I'll have a look tomorrow.

Thanks so much for that. They did fit the correct, but smaller, replacement. It's just cosmetics as you say. If you do find the old hex one(s), let me know how much for it/them and for postage to Dorset.
Thanks again. sarumboy

Yeah I've seen both types on these cars, earlier cars tend to have the full hex ones while newer ones have the domed ones, they should still be 21mm heads though otherwise you'd have issues with the wheelbrace should you ever get a flat, incidentally, I did get a flat in my old orange phase 1 and no wheelbrace in the boot, luckily I remembered that 13/16 is 21mm, and I had spark plug socket in that size in a box of junk 8n the boot, hooray for old tools haha, and I'll just bung one in the post mate, it'd barely cost a quid to send, not worth worrying about mate

On 19mm cos I swapped them out so I don't get caught out by rusted covers!

Hi Clarkey 1984,
So sorry not to have got back to you sooner but we’ve been away and it slipped my mind a bit.
If the offer is still there, I’d appreciate one of your large head wheel nuts. My address is 16 Walters Drive, Pimperne, Dorset. DT11 8UX. DO pop a note in with your address and how much I owe you, and it’ll get sorted. Thanks again.
Cheers, sarumboy.

Yeah I forgot too, what with the death (temporary, awaiting engine rebuild) of the t4 and then the arrival of another non turbo V40 to replace it it slipped my mind as well, I found them earlier, was it just one you needed yeah? As I've understandably got 12, plus locking nuts too.

get rid of the short acorn style capped lug asap. They are nothing but trouble. A mechanic once took the rattle gun to a few of mine and totally destroyed the caps making the removal of the nuts even more difficult next time around. That was about 5 years ago and I'm still bitter at him.

Sorry to hear about the demise of the t4, glad it’s only temporary!
One hex head would get rid of the ‘acorn’, but if you can spare another four, then that would let me remove the locking bolts if the car goes in for a wheels off job. One or five would be fantastic but you’ve gotta let me pay for them.
Cheers, sarumboy.
