Default Bonnet catch

Hello and thank you for reading this message.
The catch for the bonnet on my 2006 V50 doesn't spring back into place. Nothing appears obviously broken. But its not loose so maybe the spring has worn out.

Can this catch be replaced, or other solutions?

Thank you.

Try some WD40 on it, but it might be the cable sticking!

It's supposed to be lubricated every service, most places other than dealers simply don't bother.

Thank you for the tips.

Where would the WD40 go? And where might the cable stick? I put WD40 on the catch itself first thing several weeks ago.

Thank you.

Id hazard a guess that its the bonnet catch / lock rather than the cable itself that has seized up.
My BIL had a similar issue with his Audi A4.
I just attacked it with WD40 and repeatedly locked and unlocked it and the movement should help it free up, keep flushing it with WD40 too. Once its freed up, follow up with a thicker lubricant and then a little bit of spray grease to finish.
