Not at all, I've been caught doing 140mph before. Bent over and took it like a man!

If I get caught speeding its my fault and no one elses! I wouldn't complain, I'd just pay up. No one to blame but my right foot

Thing is, it sounds like the fines in south africa are a lot more than here.

So 90mph in a 50mph limit basically... mehboob how much did you have to pay?

Look on the bright side, at least you've still got your license! (I hope?)

And I'm sure your petrol is cheaper than ours is in the UK...

Going to Pay R 1800 today. I fully agree, I exceeded the speed limit and was fined. I deserve what I got. But in absolute fairness. It was early on Sunday morning, the roads are empty, it is our M5 ( freeway ). Just about 100 meters from the laser camera is the 100km/h stretch of the road. There are hardly any accidents on this section of the road. The speed limit should not be so low, its a freeway with good quality roads.

A few months ago one of powerstation's reactor went down. We had electricity shortages. Every suburb was told when they would have no power. Do you think the traffic cops controlled the major intersections, knowing full well that these traffic lights would be out ? Not at all, they are hopelessly lazy, they dont do any work, other than speeding and parking fines. And worse, if you park in a loading zone in the cbd, you get a R 750 fine.

In South Africa the worse thing you could possibly do is speed, they nail the living daylights out of anyone who drives fast. But if you commit murder, then you are ok. One of my uncles workers, stabbed his sisters boyfriend and killed him, he got R 100 bail. There used to be a drug dealer who used to work in the road my shop was in, he got caught but was back in the streets 3 weeks later, not only that, he was with a policeman, a friend of his. The justice system sucks in this country.

2000 people die in SA every month ( murder, violence, etc ) but who cares, its a standard now, but dare you drive fast...

Petrol costs R 6,80 Litre and public transport is way way too dangerous, it is just not anything like the European public transport.
