C70 mk2 - coolant in a 2.4i colour
Hi guys,
I have a 2008 C70 2.4i. I love the car a lot. I have a 300 mile drive each way coming up and it’s going to be tight time-wise and it’s to the start of our holiday and we will be getting married. I am keen this goes smoothly. I checked all the fluids in the car today and noticed oil was a tad low, roped up. The screen-wash was low and topped up. Now my coolant is just below or on the minimum line. I have no idea what coolant is in it and my local car shop didn’t want to recommend anything. It’s a orange colour, not red or pink. Is this the Volvo coolant? I’m tempted to just top it up with deionised water (few 100ml). Any advice would be welcome? It’s going in for a service in 2000 miles and I’m considering adding a system flush then. Thanks, Mike |

Deionised water will be fine.

Coolant Colour
Hi,
Just something I was told, so I will stand corrected. FYI pink coolant supersedes the blue coolant but don't ever mix them together. Anyone more knowledgeable, please confirm or correct this info. Thanks. Fred |

I would advise some new volvo coolant , it is the best you will get anywhere as it has no change interval . It is blue/green colour and should stay crystal clean and bright for many years ( 31 years so far in my 343 ) It is also cheaper than halfords etc which has to be changed every 2 or 3 years . A 4 litre bottle should do it , flushing that brown stuff out with clean water is a great idea .

what they did was just top up with a litre of the green/blue as that is what they loose doing the EGR cooler work , Volvo will not pay for more as it is warranty work . best to change it at the next service .
