Were your cars derestricted? I'm not sure chipping does this.

I remember reading an article on the development of the 850 turbo which saw the test guys running an estate round a banked oval track at 175+mph, noting that a soft limiter would be a worthwhile addition...

cheers

Default thanks for the tips, ive got to the bottom of it now.

i left the volvo with a race tuning garage for the morning. the result is that the ecu has been chipped. thanks to everybody who replyed. ive decided to go the whole hog and have a k&n induction kit fitted and a rage back box, ive just fitted some urban x red/black leather look seat covers/headrest covers/seatbelt pads/ urban x steering wheel cover. in the summer i will fit a full body kit, and opt for a full respray in red with decals. i love the car to bits. i had a guy get cocky on the m5 yesterday in a bmw 320i all he could see was the tail end of of an L reg 440 volvo dissapering in front of his eyes .AWESOME!

The 225bhp T5's (850's) are not limited, top speed 149mph. The 240bhp T5's are limited to 155mph, but realistically won't go above 160 when standed even with the limiter removed.

Chipping does remove the limiter on the cars that have them (C/V/S70 and S60 and T5R/850R's).

I'd love to see that article if you remember where it was from! That banked oval track must have been in a vacuum!

It's true! It also knocks about 7mph off top speed!

I think we might have an enthusiastic new driver on our hands, rather than a wind-up artist. 320s aren't fast (especially older ones), so it's perfectly possible the 440 toasted it, especially if it had been played with. A stock 360 GLT is faster than an e30 320, for example...and a 360 GLT is hardly a quick car.

cheers

I was referring to the modifications list rather than the 320

Quite possibly an overenthusiastic new driver - I'm thinking some exaggeration either way until I see video proof, lol.
