Looks like a nice car you've got there and you seem to be enjoying it.

Cleaned all pcv pipes and the definitely not a flame trap flame trap Crud did come out of the y piece. I then replaced the short hose that goes to oil separator box. When I started to try and remove box I can only get to one bolt as the egr ( I think ) valve covers the other bolt

I can't see any other way to get to it other than removing the whole egr valve ?

Anyone else had this issue ? and is it easy enough to remove ? Is there an easy way of removing it ?

Default PCV clean

Few pics of today's cleaning of pcv. Crud came out of the y piece but the small hose to inlet was clear as was big top hose. Annoyingly I didn't get oil separator box off as I couldn't access bolts due to egr valve.

Scoobs as you can see the y piece can't really be moved up as its at the top of the large hose already

Also trying to get the short piece of new hose back onto the top of oil separator box was a total pita

I'll have to tackle the box another day when I find out the best way to remove egr valve

Some great work there!

When i said move the "Y" piece/flametrap/nipple/plastic barrel of grime up, i was intending extending the large bore hose.

Annoyingly i found the photo of how i extended the large bore hose on my 740 to raise the "Y"/flametrap up but something happened with the flash drive it's on and it crashed the program!

I'll have another go later now i know where it is!

Do you mean the top hose as I think it comes as a whole piece. You could extend the hose from oil Separator box to Y piece/flametrap that's not a flametrap/nipple/plastic barrel of grime, but that would make it stand up higher and not sit on rocker cover

Yes, that's what i mean - if yours is already sitting on the rocker cover the hose between the oil separator and "Y" is longer than it looked in the earlier photos.

The hose in the earlier photos suggests it would sit just below the inlet manifold, i was usggesting extending it so the "Y" is above the inlet manifold.

Default PCV clean

Today I finished my PCV cleaning The worst part was trying to remove the EGR valve so I could access the bolt to the oil separator box. Both of the nuts on the valve were well rusted up and despite spraying them every night with penetrating oil I could not budge them More spraying and huffing and puffing and I eventually got them off. I suspect the valve has never been off the car in its 23 year lifetime. I also removed the metal pipe that goes to the inlet manifold to make life easier.

I didn't think the separator box was overly clogged but lots of sludge and gunk came out so worth the effort

Fitted a new box and O ring and bolted everything back together

Took her for a spin with a little Italian warm up included ( when fully warmed up ! ) and she is running really well. Pulling like a train

So that's all hoses cleaned a couple of pcv hose sections replaced. The definitely not a flame trap, flame trap, nipple, crud filled elbow cleaned and a new separator box fitted.

I'm hoping that I wont have to all again for another 125k
