Default Glow Plug Relay Fault Signal

Evening all...

Been testing out my new DiCE with VIDA 2013A and my 05 S40 has the following fault;

ECM-0380 Glow plug relay Faulty signal

I cleared it the other day but it's back so assume the relay is knackered or the connection needs cleaning. Only thing is I don't have any issues with the car that I can detect?

Is it easy to get to? I read something saying you can get to it by removing the left side headlamp?

I think you'll find it's a ghost code/error, I get it all the time and senior technician at volvo said he has never changed one and never heard of one going faulty. ignore it

Hi
I have the same code on mine. Everything seems fine so I haven't bothered looking at it yet. Probably won't now!!!
I was told that the voltages are monitored at each heater plug and a slight resistance can cause a miss reading.

I too have this code - been there over a year - as advised above if its running ok ignore code (I was told by mechanic if relay is faulty you will know)

It's the fuse...
Spent hours trying to resolve this, in the end it turned out to be the flat 50 amp (I think its 50) fuse.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check the fuse out and connections and leave it if I don't have any issues!

Do you remove the near side headlamp to get to it?

The fuse is in the fuse box under a small cover. It a flat type strip fuse, coded yellow, 60 amp rated except the OEM is made of black plastic. It won't look burnt until you remove it. You need to take it out and if the ends move loosely it's burnt.

Checked fuse and seems ok...

Is there an easy way of just separating the left side of the bumper so I can get access to the relay? Thought'd I'd give the connectors a clean, can't hurt!

OK. You will need a multimeter. Check the fuse for continuity. If checks out then check wiring for continuity, its all there in the engine bay. Because you have the phase 1 you will need to get to the relay under the bumper, sorry.
