So I picked up my Exec today - first Volvo.

Some photos attached. Savile Grey, Chestnut leather/offblack.

Options: parking heater timer (heater is standard over here), running boards (the garage put one rubber on the wrong way around DOH!, front parking assist and removable tow-bar).

Car is lovely to drive and feels quite different from my friend's MY10 185bhp model. Can be the extra horses, also it has lower-profile tyres which probably alters the handling a bit.

I was amazed at now effective and useful the BLIS is.

I have a couple of stupid questions:

- Runnings lights: I was under the impression that during daytime the sidelights would be on, in fact I have dipped-beam on all the time. Is that normal?
- Electric windows: is it normal that they can't be closed when the ignition is just turned off? Very annoying when you've stopped the car and then remembered you have to close the window...
- Middle row headrests: can't these be removed? they're quite in the way of our isofix kiddie seats

Cheers
Dave

v v handsome car that! Love the chestnut leather with the dark exterior. Can confirm daytime running lights are in fact dipped headlights as opposed to sidelights.

Nice car!
Classy.

The headrests of the middle row are not removable as far as I know.

If the headrests are not removable, does that give you a problem fitting the kids seats? I ask because we are in the process of buying an XC90 & I've already had to buy extra top tethers (not needed in my Octy) for our Britax Duo Plus Group 1 seats...and now I am worrying that they will maybe be a problem to fit??

Well they fit OK, but as the headrests push them forward a bit at the top they are a bit more upright than I would prefer.

The kids don't seem to mind it though - I'll take a photo at the weekend and post it here so you can see.

The kiddie setup we have is two Rφhmer Isofix on the outer seats and using the built-in booster in the middle. Seems to be plenty of space for three kids although I would have prefered Volvo to have had an option for booster on all rear seats.

Cool, thanks very much for that. Looking forward to getting the car...& a bit nervous at the same time. Knocking things like the top tethers & seat fitting off the list helps !

Enjoy the new motor!

Not easy to get a decent photo of the gap - this is the best I could manage...

Problem is that unless you have the kiddie seat head protection at the lowest point it's being thrown forward about 4-5 cm more than it would be if the headrest was not there or set higher.

Seems a basic design error to me that these can be removed or pulled up higher.

The sidelights are on I think, but also the dipped beam. Same as every Volvo I've owned for the last 30 years.

I can shut my windows for a short time after turning off the ignition on my car. I think it is dealer programmable though, including length of time for power to be available.

I think the head rests are part of the safety system so cannot be removed. I think Volvo prefer children to travel facing backwards in the seats they make until they are old enough to use the booster seats. They say children are much safer traveling facing backwards.
