Default Which Engine

Hi Folks,
Just wondering which engine is in my 1999 V40. Is it a Mitshubishi or a Renault?
How does one find out.
Thanks in advance.

I don't want to disappoint you but I think it may have a Trabant engine.

Go to this website http://volvo.herma.org/index.php?stranka=vinen and enter your VIN. It will tell you your engine code. Then come back here and let as know

That is a good point too. But for some reason I found the engine code in only 1 of my 3 S40s I have owned until now.

I wouldn't post your VIN on a public forum mate!
Looks as though it's the 1.6 petrol you've got, have a butchers at techy info here.
