You need a software update for the foglights to work correctly......thats what volvo told me when I bought a wiring kit only a few weeks ago.....

no software update needed for yours unless you want the foglight on the car to turn off when a trailer is connected.
You will need to put the relay in and all should then work. Just done this on mine. The instructions should show where the relay goes?

hi mate,

not sure about the genuine wiring harness you've got, but for a normal 'off-the-shelf' wiring kit, you really need a 7 way bypass relay.

The V70 2000-on uses a multiplex system and you are advised to run all the wires through the 7 way relay to avoid putting any overload on the existing wires in case any damage is caused (probably expensive!).

Not hard to wire in - they all come with instructions - just more wires.

The idea is that when you indicate, say, the indicator wire tells the relay to make the caravan indicators work, but then the power to work the caravan indicators comes straight from the car battery and not from the car's existing indicator wiring - same goes for the foglight.

These relays are available from ebay of caravan shops

hope this helps.
