Default VADIS DIAGRAM:15 rear electric headrest stuck in position

Hi all,

Could someone with VADIS give me a hand? Or if someone has had this issue.

My electric rear headrest is stuck in the up position on my 2015 V60. While this isn't a real issue while driving, it is a problem if I want to fold the seats because, I am tall and it is impossible to lower the seat without re-configuring the entire car.

If someone has a VADIS diagram, I can probably figure this out, but I have no way to see where to open the seat headrest or where one might manually put the rest down.

Any help here would be truly appreciated.

It won't be in Vadis that was obsolete about 14 years ago :-0 the head restraints have a motor and a solenoid in each head restraint , one of them should make a noise when you activate them . If the other one works then the problem is the wiring from the side of the seat into the motor or solenoid inside , there should be a plug and socket at the side of the backrest at the bottom , i bet the plug is out . it helps if you pull the side bolsters out to see them . If you find the wires , Brown/blue is live and Black/Orange is Earth ...

Thanks! I'll give that a go.

Is there a new Volvo database that has this sort of thing? I looked at parts diagrams on the web and they didn't help, but I'm always looking for something that can help me sort these problems.

Manufacturers don't publish this kind of thing publicly ...

So the electric to the solenoid is definitely working. All the plugs and attachments are firm. seems like the thing is locked in the up position for another reason. I also checked the cable as far as the left headrest (its the left back seat) and while it is there and actuating, it is not dropping the headrest either. (I will upload images shortly if I can).

I have read that solenoids can stick and I'm sure the cable could be broken on the other side of the headrest, but couldn't get over there this morning.

Any other ideas and/or is it possible to unstick the solenoid?

Why not push and pull the head restraint whilst someone presses the button , that may free it . Otherwise you will have to look at the mechanism to see what is wrong ,
