Has anyone had any experience of the company named in the thread title. I am contemplating having an LPG conversion done on my V40 and am just gauging opinions of fitters and prices, and these guys (or guy - Simon is his name) are local to me

Many thanks, and any advice gladly received

Cheers

Can't comment on them I'm afraid, but I did a bit of research on LPG websites and Mugglestones http://www.jaguarfuelconversions.co.uk/ seemed to have the best reputation. They're in Boston which is a bit of a drive, but not too bad. Thats where I'll be taking my V70 for an LPG service if that helps?

Spoken at length to Simon and i have no doubts about him from the discussions we have had. Also he is all over several LPG forums and seems to be a vat of knowledge who people listen to about conversions and ongoing maintenance which is comforting.

Anyway booked in for Wednesday drop off to do the conversion, takes 2 days apparently. Looking forward to a smooth transition to LPG and some chunky fuel savings

Default LPG firms in Yorkshire

I'd very highly recommend Autogas 2000 at Thirsk.

They converted my V70 in 2005, and I went on to do 250,000 trouble-free LPG miles in that car.

I had the routine LPG service done there every 15,000 miles - basically a new filter and a software check, never more than £30.

Cheers

Thats cheap CaptJack - I've been quoted circa £100 by a few companies for an annual LPG service.

Depends what they actually do, but the Tartarini sequential system on my old V70 simply needed a new filter every 350 hours - £12 and changed in about 5 minutes, then a check over engine bay LPG pipework - never an issue because they'd made an excellent job of it in the first place; then the lap-top was connected up, the gas pressure checked, software updates downloaded if needed, and away I went. I guess the bill would have been higher if I'd got them to change the plugs but I always did that myself.

Certainly there were no half-measures and no skimping. The car reached 300,000 miles, 250,000 of those on LPG in my 9 years of ownership. As far as I know the car is still rolling!

Once or twice I had odd problems, but Autogas 2000 sorted them easily - and inexpensively. I think in all those miles all I ever needed were a new set of injector solenoids and a new regulator valve, and a couple of times the fuel map was re-done - but let's face it 250,000 miles is probably more than double the design life of most new cars these days.

I'd be absolutely certain that in all those miles and all that time, the total bill for all servicing and repairs to the LPG system wouldn't add up to £500.

I'm sure that the Boston garage you've found will be great, but why not get another opinion. If you ring Autogas 2000 ask to speak with either John or Chris. They are great people and really know their LPG. Out of interest they converted a lot of cars for Humberside Police, and one of their most prestigious conversions was a Rolls Royce property of one Elizabeth Windsor, Monarch of the realm!

It'll be well worth your while getting to understand how the LPG set up works. I do hope you enjoy your LPG V70 as much as I enjoyed owning mine. To be honest, if I could have it back and as good as it was at say 100k miles, as much as I like my new chariot, then I'd have it back tomorrow!

Cheers

I am Simon from LPGC (LPG Conversions), also known as Yorkshire Autogas. I am new to this forum but, as people have already said, I am all over LPG forums! I am well respected in the LPG conversion industry and very knowledgeable on all LPG systems.

I use the name LPGC more often than YorkshireAutogas to avoid confusion with another Yorkshire Autogas that is based in Hull. I have corrected more than a few vehicles that the other company converted that never ran correctly on LPG.

I am based in South Elmsall which is right between Doncaster, Pontefract, Wakefield and Barnsley. 2 Miles from the A1, 8 miles from the M62, 8 miles from the M18, 8 miles from the M1.

I am converting the V40 starting today when it arrives! Will post pics of the finished job on this forum. I can assure the owner of good results, and in any event he is free to report any problems here - I am confident this won't happen!
