Default Finding LPG down south....impossible!

Went to London this weekend to see some family and friends...could i find any LPG...could i eck!

If i could find a filling station that sold it...they didn't have any, this was true in Northampton also.

I pay 63p near Leeds or 68p at my local Asda, the cheapest (read only filling station i could find) was one of the ones on the M1 on the way home, possibly Tibshelf and that was 77p!

Is it just hard to find LPG down south, and is there currently a shortage given the various empty pumps i came across?

I said to you before mate, it seems that LPG (more specifically Autogas) is a rare sight. Tbh I did think you would find some around London though, We did have one garage here in Plymouth that sold it (BP I think) but that closed for a housing development. As far as I can tell, supermarkets dont seem to stock it, neither does Esso and as thats really the only choices we have down here we are buggered!!!

Would love to run on LPG but obviously it has drawbacks if you cant find any gas!

Found none in central or south london, Esso seem to be the main stockists up here in Sunny Leeds, but Asda and morrows sell it too.

I now appreciate your previous comment Grumpy about not being able to get it. I must drive past 3 or four stockists on my 10 mile commute, couldnt find any down south, save for the BP garage on the A5 at paulerspury, and that was 79.9.

And as you said i think, the online stockist maps all seem to be wrong. I know Morrows sell it up here too, its slightly cheaper than asda but asda is less than half a mile from my house so wins on location

On my commute, from Bridgwater to Yeovil in Somerset, there are 2, 3 if you count one that will be closed at the times I typically drive past and and 4 if I do a one mile detour at Taunton. Not massively common around here, but once you're off the motorway, I think with things like this, local knowledge is what pays off as most of the maps and apps I've seen have had out of date information.

Afterall, you could have been but a street away from a filling station in London but not known...

I think in London there probably are not many as it would involve more space being taken up on what are mainly small forecourts with a big tank, so that i can understand, but why there are so few elsewhere im not sure.

Ben is your '71 1200 a bug?

It was. I was 16 and it didn't end well! 10 years later and the user name has proven to have stuck fairly well.

Try petrolprices.com who will give you the five cheapest fuel sites for any given location in the UK. I have not tried it for LPG but it should work.

Misses a lot of stockists, including the one that i use in batley that is several pence cheaper than everyone else and involves a nominal detour
