Default 2003 V70R - suitable for conversion?

Afternoon all. As above really, can those in the know advise whether or not the V70R is suitable for conversion to LPG?

I know the T5 can be converted so it stands to reason that the R can too but my main concerns on the R is the slightly increased bore to 2.5L and the increased power to 300BHP along with the different turbo.

Cheers.

It'll work but like the T5, you can't thrash it while youre running gas or you'll melt something important!

You can thrash it as much as you like on LPG without any problems once the engine is warm.

With it being a 2003 you will need a valve saver system and petrol return line. I have some photos of one that age I did last year - 3rd car for same customer who traveled over from Derby to have them done.

Cheers guys.

What's a Valve Saver (I'm guessing it saves the valves but how)?

Does that and the petrol return line increase the cost much?

Finally, and importantly, can it be done neatly?

Valve saver is an oiler system to protect the valves and valve seats, not all cars need it but Volvo altered the engine and 2003 models onwards need it. http://www.flashlube.com/gb/

As to can it be done neatly it is possible https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsfdvnOsLN0

Thanks for the reply.

So from the looks of it, the flashlube needs to be kept topped up in order to keep running on gas.

The conversion in that V70R is barely noticeable! I like the way the filler is mounted beneath the painted section of rear bumper too. The only bit I'm not keen on is the little control module by the gearstick (it's a manual! Not many of them around!) but it has to go somewhere and has to be both visible and accessible so would be unavoidable with any system.

If any of the switch panels are unused you can fit the switch there. Most R's have all the options so there are no blanks that you can use. By fitting the switch to either a blank or gear lever surround it is fully reversible by just replacing the panel that has been drilled. I've seen some conversions where the dashboard has been drilled so without changing the full dash the switch has to stay where it is or be left with a hole.
