Took one of my bikes for an MOT on Saturday at 5pm only to find that our wondrous national MOT computer system was 'offline for maintenance'.

Didn't come back online until Sunday lunchtime. Luckily my tester is open then so it got done, but yet another example of the benefits of progress - not!

Passed ok, for what is likely to be its last MOT as it will turn 40 before expiry.

Talking of bike MOTs, I used to have a Raleigh 'Runabout' moped. Now this is basically a bicycle with a small engine slung below the bottom bracket driving the rear wheel. Latterley, whenever I took it for it's MOT, the tester would enter the details and then spend the next five minutes (all it required) checking the machine. We then had a brew and put the world to rights while the system caught up and allowed him to print the certificate.

Regards. John.

I got one this year for all valve stems slightly deteriated, had a look as the alloys are only about 8 months old, and they seem fine, don't lose air etc, so not sure if I should get them replaced and risk Kwik-fit/National damaging the mint alloys during the process :-( ( last time I had tyres fitted to freshly [pwder coated wheels they managed to chip them, they tried to say they were already like that !!).
