Default Registration plate

Hi all....quite liked this so I thought I'd share ...
Someone selling a C70 for spares repair and claiming registration is worth something.
Reg is C7 OTV...
Now I've seen before people slide the O across to make it (illegally) look like C70.
But this was different. When I checked photos the seller had
C70 T V.....and I thought mmmmm.
So I checked car and it's a C70 T5?
Obviously the V is roman numeral for 5 !!!!
Whilst I don't condone misrepresentation on reg plates. ..I can see what's been done there.☺

I am not a fan of vanity plates and ones that have been mis-spaced are just sad.

If I came across that, out on the road, I would never think T5 - more Tranny, out and proud, cruising in their hairdressers car. Not that I think the C70 is a hairdressers car although that plate would reinforce the image.

Hi ITSv40
I enjoy all your posts on our 'main' forum...and I think we've always welcomed each other posts..you are always an informed and constructive poster...which as I said I enjoy to read ?
I perhaps need to be clear...I don't agree with vanity plates and certainly not mis spaced or illegal plates?
All I was saying was that. Although it's illegal I can see what this person is saying...not everyone would pick up on the V being roman for 5....that's all?
I wasn't saying it was good or enviable.
Best wishes IT'S. ...
Dave

I totally agree...if it was left as C7 0TV....and let anyone who has the space in their head to work it out...all the better.
I personally would not space out letters illegally.
Regards.....Dave

As the owner of a vanity plate, perhaps I best say nothing.

I baught the plate as it has meaning to myself and my wife and was something we could afford.
As the cost was less than the road fund licence I pay on my 2 cars each year neither of us begrudged the cost.
It was indeed a vanity, but a small one.

Paul.

I to have a "vanity" plate, I like having my initials on my plate which are WAC. It makes the car more personal to me, I would never move the letters around on a reg and make it illegal.

I too have a personalised plate with my initials. BUT, it also stops the year of registration being shown and the 'My car is newer than yours' bragging rights.
I am due to change my car this year and will still have my personalised registration.

I've got a personal or vanity plate if you prefer. It's got my wife's initials on it, I dislike the latest configuration of numbers and letters, the fact that they are changed every 6 months, it makes your car appear old very quickly, plus the fact I can never remember them in that format.

If I got a car with a suitable reg on it I'd be inclined to transfer it onwards but can't see the point of going to buy one specially.
As for the original post with the roman numeralised TV/T5, it strikes me as being like a joke- never quite as good if you need to explain it.

Hi All,

Private plates aren't really my thing I have a number of friends that love their plates if not the numerous retention fees as they change to next years model. What's more inclined to get my goat is the increasing inability of car dealerships to fit a level plate on a new car.

Surely the highest insult to anyone forking out heavy bread for a new set of wheels only to have the rear plate out by half an inch on one side.
