Default rear screens dead as a doornail

Evening all new member looking a little advise from those in the know. Have Just purchased a 2005 xc90 d5 se for a family bus such an upgrade from using my l200 all the time feel like a millionaire sitting in this thing and dont even have to move to change gear

Anyhow i cant get the rear headrest screens to do anything no blue screen nothing at all. Its the system with the multi dvd changer in the boot i also dont have the remote. checked all the fuses which are fine, changer will load and eject the cartridge without issue. tried pushing the power button on the screen with key in position 2 (ign on) and with engine running but still nothing.

Any of you people that are familiar with these things any ideas no handbooks came with the car so im hoping its just a case of me being stupid and doing something wrong.

If push comes to shove and the screens are scrap ill replace with aftermarket and run a couple of ps minis or something off them.

Thanks in advance guys

Hi goldie01,

In case you've not already searched on here for other threads relating to the RSE:

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ght=rse+screen

Implies that you should check that the screens are not set to aux input.

Hi,

Have you the remote?

You need to press one of the four buttons on the screen, I think it is the one on the right.

The screen should switch on with a blue background and red writing at the top if I remember.

Next switch on using the remote pointed in the vicinity of the rear view mirror. The scrre should now display the 'volvo' logo.

Let me know if this works.

thanks for the reply guys I do not have the remote and have pressed the right (power) button on both screens and they are doing nothing at all...hopefully ill find some time this coming weekend to get a proper look at the system and start testing wires etc.

Little update had a few spare mins today so removed one of the headrests with the screen loom and connected straight to a 12v battery and screens powered on blue with red writing as John had described must have an ign feed issue to the screens somewhere....anyone know where the fuse for these are ive checked any i could find previously?

If its something more sinister than a fuse ill just wire up a snes mini to each screen and send the audio via headphones via rcb.......easy enough modification to carry out and probably less time consuming than trying to chase a possible wiring fault with the factory fit system.

The wiring is very simple.
They are connected to the DVD player in the boot
the 12V may also come from the boot, otherwise it comes likely via the center console
