V60 D6 AWD PHEV Repairs/common defects
I have put the deposit down on a V60 D6 AWD Phev. I was in two minds but took it for a test drive and fell in love with it.
It's a 64 reg so quite early, and I know they have suffered from a few problems in the past. Particularly the ISG and the Air Con, the latter of which can malfunction and immobilise the car. I was able to ring the Volvo dealership where previous services have taken place and understand the only repairs have been new wipers, a new driver's wing mirror and a new auxillary belt. The dealership I am buying from are offering a 3 year warranty for £1k. If repairs like the air con and ISG are covered I am wondering if I should go for it. Does anyone know any common issues which may occur? This particular car has done 33,000 miles. Thanks in advance. |

Was going to PM you but not allowed as yet .... It's not my old White one you have bought is it ... with about 5 owners? Nothing wrong with that ... good car! I just know it was living around the Birmingham area. Cheers .. John.

Phev query - charging
Quote:
I had the mennekes charger plugged in (off a decent reputable brand extension cable), For five hours. The battery hadn’t recharged a bean. Could be the mennekes cable which isn’t working , just wondering if it’s something else wrong I’m doing |

You don't need to do anything other than plug it in. After a few seconds charging should then start automatically.
The car must be unlocked in order to plug in the cable. (There is a cable lock which closes when the car is locked. If locked, it will prevent you from inserting the plug fully into the car and prevent charging). There are two lights directly above the plug socket on the car. I think the right hand one goes yellow when you plug it in. It then flashes green when charging commences. I think the right light stays yellow and the left light is white if the connection fails. That white and yellow suggests a problem with the power source. Hope that helps. P.S. I never replied to your problems message as I haven't had any issues in 20 months of ownership of my V60 D6. |

Thanks
Brill, Thanks for your help. Tried from a different plug socket without an extension cable, I think it may have worked - will try again today.
Out of curiosity, how many miles has your Volvo V 60 done approximately? Mine is on 33k, plenty on auto trader which have done around 100,000, which gives me some comfort mine ‘should’ be okay for awhile |

I bought mine with just over 50k @ 2 years old. It has now done around 68k. The only work I've had was replacing the rear pads.
I do my daily commute on pure mode and only use diesel for longer journeys. My miles are roughly 60% electric. I really enjoy it. |

excellent
Hi I have a 63 reg and the only issue has been the A/C failing twice . both times repaired under warranty .
If you understand it's not a sports car you'll love it |

Happy for it not to be a 'sports' car, it really is great to drive without any need for the power mode etc. Still having charging problems. It charges fine on the road, so I think it must be the plug in domestic charger which isn't working. The charger won't let me toggle up or down the ampage (the 10A light stays on red), and the little light (on right) above the car charger socket stays lit for about 5 minutes then turns off. Intend to go back to the car supermarket and claim on the warranty. They supplied the cable so it should be covered. |
