Default Brake Fluid Change

Having watched CheshireD5's (SiRobb) video on youtube I feel fairly confident about bleeding the brakes. Couple of questions will 1 litre of fluid be enough? I am going to bleed the system myself with a 1 person easy bleed kit and do all four corners. I have read elsewhere about possibly needing VIDA to bleed the abs pump is this correct or do I not need to worry about this?

Thanks,

Chunk

You will probably need 2 litres. You don’t need a bleed kit, just some pvc hose and a jam jar....

First job though is to check all bleed nipples can be loosened.

When you say bleeding your brakes I assume you mean brake fluid change?

You don’t need Vida either.... but make sure you don’t empty the reservoir.

Yes just meant a brake fluid change. Thanks for the help I will get two litres just to be on the safe side.
Would it be worth spraying some penetrating fluid on the bleed nipples for 20 mins before trying to loosen them?

Yes but give it a few sprays over a couple of hours...

Tip: when exposing any under-body parts, cleaning them of road grime is always worthwhile.

I would use the easy bleed so much easier. I bled both my cars and as I was doing 2 treated myself to a sealy pressurised header kit, wouldn’t be without it!

2l I would buy.

Also I know this sounds basic but don’t forget with wd40 to take care not to get it on discs and contaminate then.

Clean each valve & remove any rust: ~
I would make sure that all the bleed nipples are free before you do anything- just crack each off it turn and then tighten up again. The last thing you need is a valve that won’t move for whatever reason that will halt the work.

Thought I would check the front bleed nipples today to make sure they move! Bit of plus gas penetrating fluid and a light wire brushing combined with an 11mm socket and good news both turned freely.
Due to the wife working and me being on daddy day care duty I won’t get chance to do the brake fluid change until the middle/end of the week.
Hoping the rear will be just as easy fingers crossed.
