I put Continental Premium Contact 6 on the front of the V70 earlier this year and they seem very good and not expensive if you buy them from a place like Camskills and get someone local to fit them as I did.

The rears currently have fairly new budgets on and one has a big crack picked up by the MOT tester. So that will have to be replaced soon.

Past buys include Rainsport, Vredestein and Eagle F1 - had both rear F1s fail, one with an unrepairable puncture and the other blew out on the M40. So not buying those again.

Very happy with the Cross Climates on my P2 XC70; and I don’t tend to hang about.

Our S60 T5 and V60 D4 are both on Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s, they have more grip than we’ve ever needed and are quiet and last well. We usually get them from Costco as they are the cheapest place we’ve found them, even cheaper than the wholesalers. When I asked in Costco how they sell them so cheap they told me they sell them at a loss just to get people in to the store.

Cheers, Luke

All good info thanks!

Had a closer look at the tyres last night, they are not as new as I first assume, rears are about 2mm off the wear indicator, fronts are a bit better more like 4mm. Will check the pressures again I reduced them down from 40 odds the day I picked the car up down to 31 front 30 rear as per the fuel flap.

My father has put pilot sports on his Leon with decent results, I would probably look very closely at them come new tyre day.

Aptany budget 225 45 17s, very impressed overall so far having run Continentals and Michelins in the past. I needed a tyre and had fitted the only new stock the garage had.... Not sure how they'll perform in the Winter...

Thanks!
Cross Climates have an official "B" rating for wet grip. Uniroyal RainSport 5 have an official "A" rating. These wet grip figures are for stopping distance only, so nothing to do with cornering ability, but an A tyre can be stopping in 3 metres shorter distance than a B tyre, and for that reason alone I would never consider buying anything other than A rated.

I've used Conti Sport Contact in the past and they're OK. Good in dry, less so in wet and useless in snow! Barum Bravuris 3 OK wet & dry but not as good as the Bravuris 2. Best I've had on the V70 Khumo Ecsta le Sport, good wear, wet & dry grip and no tramlining.
Different car, but my experience with Bridgestones as a brand not good. Had them on at least two different cars in the past. Wear well but grip in wet not good.
I've got a pair of Bridgestone Dueler HT in the front of my CRV with Goodyear Vector on the rear both all seasons (how it was bought)...can't wait to get rid of the Bridgestones. Absolutely terrible in the wet. I've thought about the Cross Climates and the Vectors for the CRV and Uniroyal or Avon for the Volvo when The Barums are due

That's a shame... I might just put Eagle F1's on the S60 the problem is I was killing the fronts in about 7-8k on the C70!

I put a set of Falken All Seasons AS200 94V (225/45R17) on my V70 last year, no problems, quiet, hard wearing, good grip in all conditions.
