2003 2.5T won’t start after PCV change
Hi all,
replaced my PCV today and associated hoses, put everything back together. The car won’t start, it cranks and turns over then cuts out? Almost like no fuel but there is fuel pressure in the rail when I press in the Schrader valve. The fuel Pump you can hear running when the key is in position 2. What else could it be? Throws up error code but I don’t have a code reader. Says reduced engine performance on the screen and sometimes the Rev counter needle stops at 1000rpm and stays there when key is turned off? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Too bad you can't get the code read with a Volvo reader so you know exactly what it is. A generic will do for now as you may get lucky right off the bat.
You don't have to clear it (them?) either. I was going to suggest intake air handling hoses and MAF plug. |

Thanks both for your replies.
So I have disassembled the intake manifold to have a look and everything is plugged in. The only things that are different are is the plug connector that connects the end of the fuel rail into the thermostat is broken on both connectors (the plastic) but it looks as though the pins still plug in. The other is I put di-electric grease on the connector on the throttle body. Could any of these be the issue? Cheers

Everyone here rightfully raves about Vida for code reading but you can pick up a generic OBD2 reader for little more than a tenner from eBay/Amazon. I keep one in each car just in case.
While understanding problems is very important having the ability to clear codes (and potentially restore performance) at the roadside can be useful. |

Dielectric grease, or tune-up grease, is a silicone-based grease that repels moisture and protects electrical connections against corrosion. ... The grease does not conduct electricity, so it shouldn't be applied directly to the mating surfaces (pins and sockets) of an electrical connection.
A clue here? |

Hi all, thanks for the help. Found the fault. It was a broken crank sensor bracket. It had snapped and as the sensor was too close to the flywheel teeth it wouldn’t start. Now repaired.
Thanks all
