Default Tyre size query

I have a 55 plate XC90 2.4 Auto. It currently has 235/60r18 tyres which I need to replace having destroyed the fronts towing a trailer up a track when it became obvious the AWD isn't working. I have a set of 225/60r18 I got for a different vehicle. Is there any reason these tyres would not go on?

225 is the width
So the 225 is narrower than the 235
Narrower means less rubber on the road, less grip, less traction.
But minimal.

However you should avoid different tyre widths front vs rear, as you will create potential handling issues

Physically they'll fit. However, your insurers might not like a deviation from standard tyre sizes, so beet to check with them first.

Hi, perhaps if you had the AWD fixed, you would not have such problems.

With your my, it is probably the spline drive.

Just a suggestion

235 x 60% = 141mm profile height from the rim

225 x 60% = 135mm profile height from the rim

You'll have a near 2% speedo error change compared to usual, plus a 6mm drop in ride height and 6mm more wheel arch gap...

Nothing too significant. If ever in doubt check www.willtheyfit.com

Thanks for the replys. Im going to put the tyres on.

The AWD is on the list to look at. Hopefully it is just the sleeve. Wasn't aware it was not working until then. Not sure how long it has been gone for.
