Default on call and sos buttons

i have a broken central air vent on my '07 xc90 , going to replace it with a donor part BUT this doesn't have the connections to the on call and sos buttons..if I don't connect them will it cause any problems ? I don't need or want the on call or sos features

well get the safety side of it working there is no subscription it just needs to be registered with you ... how do you know it is not working ? It is quite ok to press the on call button for 2 seconds and have a chat with the operators . the SOS brings the emergency services to you .

It brings some of the emergency services to you. Not all are yet equipped to accept telematics calls, so be careful where you are when you crash into that ditch

volvo have been using on-call for 20 years now , well sorted ! Other makes are starting to catch up now because it has become mandatory for new cars .
The SOS button alerts the operator who tries to contact you via the speaker in the on call unit ... if you are ok , you can tell them what you want . otherwise if they get no response they send out the emergency services nearest to your location which is reported back to them from the car of course ..

If you are unable to press the SOS button , the car will call the same service itself when it detects the accident and send a lot of useful data from the car to give some idea of what has happened . .

I never want to need my airbag system either.

But I'll be glad it is working and functional on the day that it operates.

Consider the SOS system part of the entire safety package. You never want to use it, but you'll be glad it's there when you really REALLY need it.

Wait, you have on-call now and the donor part not? Why don't you change the on-call buttons to the donor part? Or are these buttons broken?

Does anyone know, if the functions for on-call and SOS are inside that part? I'd want to use one of these buttons for another thing, can I use these just as a switch? My car isn't equipped with the on-call system.

the buttons are not intelligent-. They are just buttons.

OnCall uses a separate module with backup battery and emergency speaker and emergency microphone and a separate GPS antenna.

It cannot be retrofitted.

Thanks a lot! No, retrofit luckily isn't what I want to achieve. I need a button to switch on/off my trunk 12V and don't want any "not-Volvo" buttons... Nerdy, I know...
