Default Abs ?

Hi , I have just driven my first C70 whilst in search for replacement car.
Whilst breaking as hard as I could downhill I did not get the juddering that I would usually associate with an ABS system such as was on my SAAB.
Is this correct ?

I'm not sure which generation C70 you have, but on my old (late 1990s) V70Rs you couldn't miss the ABS kicking in - the pedal vibrated as well as the BRRRP noise. I haven't had the ABS kick in on my recently acquired S40, but it does do an ABS check shortly after pulling away - no noise but there is a (much more discrete) vibration in the pedal albeit for a fraction of a second.

So I'd say if yours is a phase 1 car, then you couldn't miss the ABS kicking in, but if its a later version, then it may be much quieter - but you should still get feedback through the pedal.

you say you braked as hard as you could , did the wheels lock ? do you have the later C70 with folding steel roof?

Hi its a 2007 model. Steel folding roof. All seems OK but was expecting juddering as per the Saab. Stops OK.

It is very rare to get any ABS action in a volvo when driving on dry roads , or even on wet roads unless you are particularly aggressive in your braking .. The C70 is a heavy 1700 kg car with a lot of weight over the rear wheels which help too .
