Default Various issues

Hi,

I have a few faults on my 59 plate XC90, they may be all linked.

I initially had the soot filter full message which came and went, I had a read over this forum and it looked like it had regenned itself, but then it got worse and eventually ended up in limp mode.

Last week I had a my DPF filter cleaned and the following faults were showing
5660 Oil pressure sensor
Engine system service required

I have checked the oil and it does need some taking out, which I will try and do tonight.

Everytime it is plugged into the laptop and the faults cleared, it runs fine but within a few miles it goes back into limp mode, and all power drops.
The engine is running hot, the fan is working ok, and the temp gauge is reading ok.

Any ideas what to do next?

Yes, get the oil level right first.
What code reader are you using?

Cheshired5, I have been away for a few weeks and just come back to try and sort my car out again, took it back to the local garage this morning.
He was using a Verus, and it had the following faults that were showing up
Mass air flow sensor
oxygen sensor
glow plug control
oil pressure sensor

he said it could be the ECU and he doesn't have a clue, so I am back to the drawing board as where to start

Use a VIDA/DICE combination to read out the codes. Either by buying one, find a forum member with one near you or use an official dealer.

Everything else will be (very) expensive guesswork.

If he admits that he doesn't know what to do, that's very clear indication that you need to go somewhere else.

Find a forum member with VIDA who can help you for some for of gratitude (wine, beer, cake...)

it was by a company called Yorkshire dpf centre, so they claim to do a deep clean on them

I am definitely going elsewhere, I may bite the bullet and take it to the Volvo dealer.

What will the VIDA tell me differently from the guys laptop?

VIDA will tell you the exact DTC (DiagnosticTroubleCode) numbers AND the way to find the exact problem and how to solve it.

I'd really think about buying a DICE (that's what you need for VIDA to connect to your car), if you hold on to your car for longer. Every code reading at a dealer is around 30 to 50, a DICE alone on eBay is around 70 (not tested) or 85 to 90 here on this forum (tested!). If you are not an experienced computer user, I'd suggest looking for a complete set DICE/Laptop/VIDA. You can get it here on the forum for example from cheshired5 (where you can get a DICE alone as well). Look for his thread in the sales section.

As said, everything else WILL be expensive guesswork.
