Default Fitting Towbar 30660691

Just a quick note to hopefully help anyone that might be taking a Towbar (Part No 30660691) off a 2006 XC90 and putting it onto a 2011 R Design XC90.

Removing the towbar and refitting it was real easy with only one or two snags that I came across.

What i did was remove the twin exhaust on the R Design to allow it to be easier to fit the towbar, i got a new exhaust gasket Part No: 8672278 for when i put it back on.

If you are doing the same as me and taking the towbar off an SE model and putting it onto a R Design model the first snag i came across was with the hangers for the exhaust rubbers, the hangers for the R Design have to be about 50mm longer (See attached photo) so cut of the existing hanger before bolting up the exhaust. Volvo have a mounting kit Part No: 30635847 for the R Design but i just made up my own.

The other snag that i came across was you need to install 3 new fuses into rear (cargo) fusebox after you connect the trailer module (wiring kit).
On my 2011 XC90 R Design they were a 15A fuse into position 7 and 2x 25A fuses into position 29 and 30 but just check with your own cars manual to make sure this is right for your car.

Other things that might help:
The Fixed Ball on my towbar has the Part No; 30744118
Tightening Torques for the main bolts was 120Nm,
for the smaller bolts on the plate brackets was 50Nm
and the 2 bolts on the exhaust was 24Nm

Hope this helps
