Reading your post I was thinking exactly the same as you Volvo Indy. Are you sure the transfer box you transferred the inners from was the exact same gearing as your old one? Some four wheel drive systems can get very upset if you put new tyres on the one axle rather than changing all 4 tyres together.

I have been told this and yes 2 of my tyres are not good and 2 are not bad but not new either ive tried swapping end to end but no diffrent.. but cant afford 4 new tyres to fi d out its not problem and as i have dem codes stored think its that so gutted realy liked car now loosing faith in it. Going to get replacment rear diff tommorow and go from there hoping its diff or sensors not dem itself as will need that programmed...

Hi, does appear you are experiencing 4 wheel drive lockup - when 4 wheel drive engaged you need a 3rd differential to manage the different speeds between the front and rear differentials which in the case of the volvo am thinking is managed in the transfer case? If so, then I suggest this is where your problem lies, but if this is managed by the Haldex unit then problem could be there but from what I read this is simply on of off so will not allow slippage to handle the difference in rotational speed between front and back or does it?
Hopefully someone out there knows more about the Volvo system - I for one am very interested to learn how it works. Last edited by XJSDriver; Jan 30th, 2019 at 17:11. |

i guessing its in the haldex in the rear diff as i have removed the prob and car drives as good as it will in fwd.
picked up another rear diff today complete with dem so thats nxt step.. but it realy dosnt want to be fixed as tge prop cv basicaly exploded when i removed it... and then i discovered the drivshaft seals in transferbox now didnt hold up so got to remove that again... dose anyone know can i reprogram a dem with vida dice b4 i lay out money on it.. |
