Default S80 II 2008 consumption

Hi guys!

I would like to ask you if my average consumption 7,8l /100km isn't too much?

I have S80 II, 2008, 120kW, 2.4D, six-speed gearbox.

Our V70 D5, 120kW five-speed gearbox, from 2006 takes 6,5l maximum.

I'm afraid everything's fine with S80. I know it is winter and the consumption should be higher in cooler weather but still...it is only 120kW and I suppose TDI engine shouldn't be so thirsty. I drive mainly 180 - 200km twice a week. Here in Prague I drive maximum once a week cca 20km so I use this car mostly for longer distance drives.

Thank you for any advice.

Doing the calculations to convert to miles per gallon it sounds about right.

My previous P1 tdi v70 gave me 45 mpg local and 53mpg on a run. My current 2wd P3 xc70 gives 40 mpg local 50 mpg on a run.

The increased emissions control accounts for the drop in fuel consumption, euro 3 compared with euro 5.plus the xc is heavier, wider tyres, all the extra drag = more fuel used. Still easier on the pocket than a comparable petrol engine mind.

Paul.

My XC70 D5 automatic from 2012 right now averages 7.0 l/100 km. This includes some trailer towing and some driving in snow.

Volume per distance is consumption, distance per volume is range.

I think that works out at about 36miles per gallon and tht is what I get with my S80 D5.
