Angry S40 Boot lid not opening!!!

Hi guys/gals

i have 55 plate S40 purchased here in the UK.

For a while now, my boot lid is not opening. it stopped all of a sudden a year ago and i cant open it for the life of me.

i tried looking inside the boot (through the back seats) and i cant seem to find a latch to open it.

i've read loads of articles saying it might be locked for valet parking or something and saying that i can unlock it using the metal key bit.

Can anyone help on how to resolve this please!

The wiring loom can break inside the rubber grommet thing that links the bootlid to the car (left side) basically one or more wires literally snap and prevent power going to the switch.

Have a look here: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ot+wiring+loom

Not saying this is the problem but it's very common (please do a search on boot wiring loom etc).

You might be able to open the boot by grabbing and moving the rubber grommet in various positions whilst someone else keeps trying the boot switch.

This might seem very strange, but have you tried it with the engine running. The boot would not open on my C70 last summer, but it would open with the engine running! It turned out to be related to the battery, if you've got a battery that's starting to fail it can apparently throw up all kinds of strange problems, mine affected the electronic switch that releases the boot catch!
