Default Fault code PO244 turbo wastegate solenoid range

Hi A couple of times the car wouldnt start first time and engine service warning come on. When car started seems to run OK and engine service warning goes off. but I get a fault code PO244. On removing the large diameter hose to the inlect manifold there is a lot of black grunge . Is the solenoid goosed or possible gummed up or worse still turbo itself on way out. Any help appreciated. The car has plenty of power, uses no oil, and returns 40 mpg urban. No nasty smoke from exhaust.

The best would be if you go to volvo dealer to read the code. The error code you've mentioned is a generic code and with volvo it might mean anything.

Start from cleaning the air mixer: http://volvoforums.org.uk/showpost.p...6&postcount=56
Replace the fuel filter and check if the intercooler or one of the turbo hoses didn't burst.

Wink Fault code PO244

Hi. Thanks for link. Before I read the link I have taken off the air mixer plenum chamber and this was in a sorry state. I took the thing off and thoughly cleaned it and removed all the turbo hoses and checked these and refitted with new jubilee clips. Touch wood things seem fine now, and engine service required notice has not appeared again.
