Bang Out Of Order
Is it just me that thinks my insurance company (ecar) are out of order by charging an extra £70.00 for having the lpg fitted to my 940?
What happened to the "green issue". I thought maybe they'd give me money, or am I just naive?

Bang out of order
Agreed. I am insured through Chris Knott and they didn't blink an eyelid when
I "gassed" my V50 in March this year. Perhaps time to "jump ship" or threaten to do so? Bhowani 2008 V50 2.4SE LPG auto |

'Twas a few years ago now, but when I got my conversion my then insurance company wanted to charge a fee. I cancelled the policy and found another insurer.
Some companies regard LPG cars as a lower risk and so their premiums are actually less. The reasoning is that LPG drivers are by nature more careful, look after their cars better, keep their cars longer, and drive more sensibly.......! Could that possibly be true.....? Jack |

You should be lucky!
Our insurance company didn't bat an eyelid when I told them I was converting our 340 to gas myself. No, not even any extra premium...
READ ON When the work was done, they turned round and said..'we don't insure LPG without a certificate. Your policy is cancelled. You have 14 days to find another insurer. Bye bye.' Certificates can be got from registered gas installers - who will issue a cert for their own work and nobody else's. Hence we had to trawl around finding an installer who would inspect and certify the work (we found a garage in Monmouth who did) then an insurer who would take on our potential travelling bomb. Finally we did at a sensible premium, but the daughter couldn't drive it on the same policy. The moral? GET IT IN WRITING!! These indian call centres don't even know what LPG is let alone whether they will cover it or not. |

My insurer would not insure me even with a Cert they classed as an engine mod and did not insure engine modded cars.
