Hi Jim, it's the rubber ball I'm after - mine had split from the bottom plate. But after trying the breakeryard websites with no luck, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new one from Volvo. It will have to come from Sweden but should at least be reliable - they are a pig to get off the car and I'm tired of doing it and bodging a repair!!

Sorry to be nosy but do you mind me asking how much a genuine one would cost from Volvo?

Hi Davey, price is likely to be around £80, depending on what discount you can negotiate. On the scale of things this isn't too bad - the part is a fairly complex thing, rubber sphere which may be oil filled (?), and has to come from Sweden by special order (included in the price above).

I've been bodging mine up for so long now with cable ties etc that the price was well worth it to me. They are a difficult part to fit though - you really need an engine crane to lift the engine off its front LHS mount and then swing it forward. That's the only way I could get the clearance to get the rear mount into position. All done now so very happy!

Can be fitted on a 480 without an engine hoist just takes a little bit of manuoevring

That's impressive Jim! Is the 480 mount the same design as the one on the 440? (see image in my initial post). On the 440 there just isn't the clearance between the engine, the bulkhead and the top of the subframe where the mount bolts onto (unless I've really missed something........). Took me most of Saturday morning, and had someone gently levering the engine forward whilst I was under the car,
