D4/5 tuning- Interesting..
https://satuning.co.uk/product/truetuneproduct/
Just thought I’d share this with you.. my V90 is a lease car so I’d never do anything like this.. D4 235hp + 350ftlbs. It’s the first decent solution (in the UK) I’ve seen, thought I’d share. 😀 D5 - 290hp + 430ftlbs

I do do a lot of physical engine work to the motorcycles because I own them. But I have never had a main dealer say anything about remaps on car engines and have always had them serviced there. I've also handed four or five cars back to the lease company in the last 10-12 years - all chipped or remapped (chip box removed of course) and never heard a dickey bird from them. But....that does look good. Your mileage may vary of course. |

It’s there somewhere, had an email back from them today.
Seems to be along the same lines as a Superchips Bluefin, but Superchips have no software available and need the car for a week to develop it (had that email too!)

Lots of people are anti remap and will have their own views but I’m with you. Every vehicle in my household for as long as I can remember has been tuned. A good friend works for DMS and could map the car for a few drinks but I’m cautious come main dealer service time. Tuning boxes are utter utter tosh so this SA Tuning thing seems just the job.. I’ve never believed (or experienced) the ‘increase in MPG’ that all these firms claim. You don’t get something for nothing and I tend to always be in a hurry! Very tempted...

Found it.
I was considering going down the Dtuk chip box route but this looks like a reasonably decent alternative

The best way is of course to put the vehicle on a dyno and tune it individually. My latest Harley Davidson motorcycle that I have been working on gained at least 10MPG more on motorway use, plus a cr*pload of HP and TQ by being dyno tuned by someone who really know those engines. So power+ plus MPG+ is possible - but you can't really have both at once depending on you heavy your foot or wrist is. But that's fine with me! |

I’ve tried a tuning box on an Insignia once but total power loss in the outside lane of the motorway got boring quickly. I wasn’t meant to be keeping the car long but it was very sluggish and needed help. I actually thought the tuning box was ok until it started going into limp all the time. Ended up getting it mapped and it was very different and gained 70 extra miles per tank of fuel. Not that the economy was any good, just the tuning box was that terrible. Take a look at this - stumbled across this video. I’d never heard of the company until then. https://youtu.be/QNu17zA1sRg

In a previous life - ex Thunderbike endurance racer for 12 years, Californian Superbike School Instructor and all that. On a road bike (an R1) I put a Power Commander on it and found a file online that near enough matched all the go-faster parts I had fitted. Rode fine for a summer then took it to A dyno with my ZX10 racebike. After the ‘custom dyno’ tune it gained 4hp in the midrange and nothing anywhere else. Perfectly fine for a road bike. I think generic are fine for a diesel estate car.. Spent many thousands extracting minimal power gains on the ZX10 though!

I looked at the BSR tuning option but the ECU has to be unlocked by them which throws a red flag up.
I would love to map my D4 however if the ECu has to come out and be unlocked by non volvo place im not so keen.
