Retro fittings at nav
Hi
I was wondering if anyone had tried retro fitting an OEM sat nav system to a xc90. All the parts are available on EBay and I would have thought that the cars wiring loom would be generic. Steve. |

Probably the worse satnav ever to use, I would fit a Garmin or TomTom touch screen with bluetooth in a Volvo cradle. There is a thread on this forum somewhere on fitting a Garmin and cradle
There are video's on youtube showing both makes fitted in Volvo cradle.

You can do it, and Volvo have full PDF retrofit instructions on how to do it
Some people have strong opinions about the nav system, but it is a fully integrated system that works very well.

I would take the Volvo one any day. That said I do agree, cheaper and less painful to just get a Tomtom. |

With a Garmin or TomTom touch screen and bluetooth you get hands free calling and a much easier to use satnav and they are very good satnavs, merc built in ones may have been bad but the Garmin I used was fine. The volvo satnav is a real pain the put destinations in as no touch screen so its like using the web on your tv, move curser to first letter press enter, move curser to second letter press enter etc, ig takes ages.
Another point is Volvo map updates cost a fortune unless you can find a knock off copy that works on ebay.
