Deadlock - No Access
Hello all,
I have an issue maybe someone has a resolution for, my battery has died on my S40, zero power, I jump started it this morning and drove to work. Now I cannot get into the car at all. I assume the battery has completely died and the car is now in deadlock, I have tried to use the key on the drivers door but no success. I have had to leave the car where it is for the night. Any ideas how I can get in?? |

What happened when you tried the key in the door?
If you can get access, you could connect a charger, or jumplead, underneath the car, to the positive terminal on the starter, and connect the negative to any good ground point and give it enough power to open with the remote if all else fails |

Key is not turning in the lock at all. Blasted it with WD40 and let it soak but it still won't budge. Anybody know if it's possible to access the bonnet catch if I remove the front grille?? If i could pop the bonnet I could get at the battery. Car is currently in a car park so I don't have much space to be getting under it 😖

Manual entry only via drivers door, only key lock on the car. Managed to get the grill off but cannot seem to get access to the bonnet catch. I'm running out of options 🤔

Try to use lock oil for a few days and gently try the keyblade again.
I took a look at the hood release, I see no way to access it from the grille. Your best bet is to remove the underside engine cover and get access from there. There are some guides on youtube that could help you. |

Deadlock is only for the interior door handles, not for the exterior handles.
If you have a flat battery, and have trailer wiring, then you can connect a battery charger to the trailer plug permanent power connection. Otherwise, get under the car, remove the under-engine cover, and connect a battery charger to the starter motor permanent 12V terminal if you can reach it, or to the alternator 12V terminal The battery charger only needs to be on for a few minutes for all the systems to come alive and allow you to unlock the car.

Finally got in,had to get a locksmith to pick the lock for 85 😩 it turns out that the blade key was not the right key for my car, so if you are buying second hand like myself check the blade key before you buy or you could end up in my predicament. You cant trust anybody these days! Thanks for all of your suggestions 👍🏼
