Lower tax
Guys, does anyone know what the differences were to make a 2008 D5 2400cc 239 g/km emissions go down to 224 g/km on the 2009 models, guessing it's the same engine?

I had a 185bhp 2008 XC90 and it was £400 road tax at the time I changed to a 2011 200bhp which was around £290 at the time. All have gone up since. I don't know the current rates for them. But big difference between the 2008 and 2011, EGR and ECU and exhaust tweaks
My 2016 235bhp XC90 was £145 which went up slightly with the last tax rules change.

Are you comparing like for like? Or does the later car have a manual gearbox?

Like for like. The later car had a lower carbon emission. Just wondering what it would take to get the tax lower, i know that you can reregister a car with DVLA changing various details, and hopefully emissions being one of them

Have seen roughly the same question about a van on another forum, and the answer was by the time you've paid for the parts and work to be done, you have to get it tested and certificated... and that will cost more than the extra you'd pay in 'road tax' for several years. It's simply not worth doing.
