Default Fuel economy

My alternator failed and I had a new 150 amp one fitted, unfortunately my 2.0 diesel V50 lost its immobiliser setting and the car wouldn't start, I also had a new fuel filter fitted, but the car had to go to a Volvo independent and be reprogrammed whatever that is, now fuel economy is down, it used to average 69 mpg on a run and 44 round town but it seems quicker than it was and it's down to 58 and 40 respectively, anybody got any ideas why

Is that according to the trip computer? I never believe the cars MPG calculation. Log the start mileage after filling up and then log the mileage on the next fill up and calculate your mpg that way, it’ll give you an accurate reading. My mpg meter used to say 63mpg, when I did a tank to tank calculation I was getting between 49 - 56 mpg and on combined 42 - 44mpg.

Is that economy as displayed on the dashboard, or economy as measured from tank full to tank full over a decent distance?
