Default Genuine Volvo S40/V50 7 pin Towing kit And Module

I have here a Volvo 12n/7 pin towing kit which consists of the pre wired 7 pin socket and the module which plugs in to the car behind the trim in the boot.

Once fitted has to be actived with dealer software?

It was removed unused from a 2010 V50.

Any use to anyone?

*edit* Part number on module is : 8698475

I could be tempted if it fits an 56 plate - is there anything with it to suggest? Trued googling without much luck.
Thanks

Thanks for getting back - I kinda forgot that I had asked! I am still looking for one.

I take it that it is a Volvo part no? I will check with Volvo in the morning to see if it will fit my car.

How much are you looking for it?

Yes I think that's the Volvo part number.

As for it's worth, you could ask Volvo for a price while you're asking them if it fits your car, then make me an offer!

Cheers

I checked with Volvo yesterday and thay said that the part number did not exist??

He did say that the cable was £22 and the module was £35 and that it was another £80 to have the software downloaded!!!

I was in at the Volvo dealership today to find out more about the module. Although the part number is wrong, it is the correct module - the software update is the thing that differentiates between different models.

I was happy with that until he mentioned that once software is downloaded onto the module for a specific car, no further software download can be made?? If it is plugged into another car, it will corrupt the computer in the 2nd car!!

He assured me that he was not winding me up or trying to get me to buy a new module.

Anyone else heard this?
