Default stuck fuel cap, help!

I went to fill up today, and I couldn't get the damn fuel cap to unlock.

I'm trying to find the spare key as I type, as the key might just be worn. If that doesn't work how do I get it off?

Anyone with a spare one and a set of keys PM me.

I think thats what I'm going to have to do. Its going in the garage on friday for a wheel alignment. Hopefully it has enough fuel to get there and they can do it.
I have no power tools down here.

hi . i was on supermarket carpark the other day a lady pensioner in a 940
was struggling to unlock her petrol cap i went to her aid at first i thought the locks had it .but after a while of trying the cap came off once you determine which way unlocks just keep turning anti clockwise as it can decive you .they can catch you out as with the lady and nearly myself.
its a long shot but worth a good trying nice and steady. hope it may work
regards jpliddy

If the cap is bust and needs replacing anyway, will it not force open if you ram a flat blade screwdriver into the key hole and turn it? Or will that just turn the whole lot without freeing it?

Its like a medicine bottle top. Unless its unlocked it just spins around freely.

I've tried both keys now, neither worked. I forced it as far as I could without risking snapping the key.

What about good ol' WD40? I've just used it in the key holes on the doors, as they were all stiff as anything. Now it is like new.

I borrowed my da's car once with using the spare key, and no key for the fuel cap, i was able to use the front door key of the house to open it lol

If the lock is not coming off without force, whats have you got to loose by trying the key and a pair of plairs?? the garage is doing the job anyway, if you break the key in it, its not your problem lol

Exclamation Jammed fuel filler cap.

Beware of forcing the cap because of the risk of spark and explosion. Wood only as a lever! Otherwise up on the tobstone you may see "Silly me"
