Default Lambda problem discovered?

Thanks to darkness and quiet night have found, I hope, the provblem. Started the car and it was only fireing on 3. Heard the proverbial clck click click of a short. Opened the bonnet and the centre of the coil was shorting to the other two poles. I have a couple of spare coils so changed it. Started the car. Still running rough. Under bonnet heard more clicking and found the Distributor cap had an internal short. Have to buy a new one and rotor arm tomorrow. Bizarre that Lambda Coil and cap should all fail at same time. But in one way lucky I guess. A million thanks for all the help and advice.

The misfire could have poisoned the Lambda sensor with excess fuel. Once you get the other bits sorted, i'd suggest a long, high speed run to burn off any unburnt fuel that has entered the cat to prevent it being poisoned.

It will stink of rotten eggs while it's getting rid of the excess fuel but should ease off once the excess fuel is gone.

Dark nights are great for fault finding ignition though!
