Thanks for that suggestion Tony, I'll check and tighten at the next oil and filter change. Maybe they are water pipes and i assumed they carry oil by the fact that the drip appears to be coming from them but i would laugh if its as simple as tigtening the filter stud and the leek has merely worked its way down!

Funny you should mention that Jon (and Tony) as i've had a leak from around the oil filter on mine.

Some bright spark has removed the oil cooler from mine and the oil filter now screws directly to the block, leaving two "redundant" coolant pipes (that previously fed the oil cooler) simply looped together. It's handy for me as i can undo the connector between them (the loop connector) and extend them to feed an LPG reducer which will live next to the washer reservoir.

I would however like to refit the OE spec oil cooler or maybe even an aftermarket version but since the recent oil/filter change, the leak seems to have disappeared. Simple fixes, gotta love 'em!

If you have the small radiator its an oil cooler, the pipes have oil in them.

940 turbos have a water to oil heat exchanger, which looks similar but the in/out pipes are water to the cooling system.
