Default EGR blanking plate

Hi, my EGR is causing lumpiness, I bought a solid metal plate off Ebay that replaces the solenoid. Has anyone fitted one of these and what comments can you make? Where did you put the EGR solenoid (it stays plugged in).

thanks!

I have blankt mine off with a selfmade plate no problems i left the contact off.

There was a heap off sud in there you have to remove it .

I did it by scrapping of everthing while holding the mouth off my vacuumcleaner near the hole so there would not fall to much sud in the inlet .

Take off solenoid.
Place plate between valve and solenoid.
Refit solenoid.
Sorted.

Or just get it cleaned, I had mine done for the princely sum of £25. Probably something you want to do after every timing belt change.

I cleaned mine but the valve was opening and closing in quick succession under low boost causing the exhaust pressure to fluctuate making the car run on kangaroo juice.

I blanked mine off with the intention of replacing the actuator but funds restricted me. It's still on the list.

Ok, I got fed up of the lumpiness and rough idle and just pulled the plug out of the EGR valve on my 2001 V40 1.9d phase 2. No fault lights on dash, no lumpiness, better acceleration it's like a new car! I'm watching the average fuel economy with interest...

I'm getting 47.4 combined with a medium weighted foot.
