Not wishing to direct anyone away from Volvo here... But - Neva Direct seem the best bet for the 3008 (I've been investigating a lot with a friend). She's getting an Allure admittedly but insists on Auto (1.2 petrol) which adds a fair amount to the cost and getting the nice red paint thrown in for £2000 + £222 (x35) for 10k miles per year. I had the GT Line on lease but I don't think it offers a vast amount over the Allure... Only thing I'd really say against it was the large transmission tunnel rubbed on my knee a bit (there's a ridge) on a long journey, seemed a bit better after I adjusted seat for return trip. The central cubby storage is immense though, you could get nu11eaf's dog in there! *

*Just checked and the GT Line is £2267 + £232 x 35. A little more than the current deals on the Momentum spec S90. My local Volvo dealer actually matched and beat the online price for lease S90 where Peugeot were having none of it though. Always better to go through the dealer if poss!

Whilst an S90 should obviously be much bigger than my S40, I have personally vowed never to buy a Saloon again, the tailgate opening is just too limiting. Autotrader suggests the boot size is 500 litres for the S90 which for the size of the car is pretty small and unless you have perfect suitcased sized items you will be forever cursing it, e.g. choice of pram will be limited to whatever fits through the tiny letter box opening.

I have a V90 CC and initially discounted the S90 because of the size of the boot opening. But, after going on holiday and hiring an S90 everything we had in the boot on the way to the airport fitted fine at the other end going into the S90. It was a little more of a Tetris exercise but two large and 3 small cases were fine.

We're past the baby paraphernalia stage now (and well into teenage daughter who needs a huge case for a weekend away stage...) but back in the day an S60 was fine. Lots of stuff went in diagonally.

Easter break away for 4: me, Wife, Daughter (11), Mother. Three reasonable size cases, 3 smaller cases, various mobility contraptions (bed rails, shower grab rails, etc. for my mother), extra quilt, 4 or 5 shopping bags, 10 coats (did the other 3 really need 3 each, I managed with 1 ), and a few other odds-n-sods.

Bit of a squeeze, but it all fitted

As others have said, arrange an extended test drive - I had the demo S90 overnight, and did about 150 miles I think: Out with family, met an old Uni friend for dinner about 50 miles away, school run in the morning, shops, ... After that I was sold, and put the deposit down the next day.

In your case try fitting all your stuff in (assuming you have all the stuff left from baby #1). Try car seats (depending on age of baby #1). Do typical family stuff for a few hours.

If your local dealer is not happy arranging for you to have a demo S90 for a few hours, or overnight, to convince you, then consider walking away from the S90 and looking at the other models.

Or you could get one of these and take the kitchen sink as well.
