Default D5 engine seems to hot.

The xc90 d5 185bhp seems to run to hot.
The wings are really hot the bonnet gets hot the engine brace gets really hot and the plastic engine cover gets hot nearly to hot to touch is this normal.
Thanks

Diagnosing a problem by feel is not a good idea so use diagnostics to obtain and monitor actual coolant temperature behaviour.

I will it just feels way to hot the engine cover you could burn your hand on and the exhaust gasses are really hot for a diesel.

So a black cover on a hot engine under a black bonnet in summer is really hot?
No way.....
The exhaust gases will most likely be caused by heat soak for the above reasons.

You should have the data by now so what is it?

Mine gets really hot, including the bonnet when it does a regeneration to burn the soot out of the DPF. It's so hot you can feel it when stood outside the car. if yours has a dpf that could explain things but it shouldn't be 'really' hot like that all the time.
